Colin Allred to challenge Ted Cruz for Senate seat.

Democratic congressman Colin Allred has announced his candidacy for the Senate, challenging incumbent Republican Ted Cruz. Allred, who represents District 32, is in his third term and hopes to sell Texas voters on leadership that stresses pragmatism and collaboration, instead of selfishness and partisan gridlock. Cruz has described himself as an unabashed Constitutional conservative and has not commented on Allred's announcement. A Democrat hasn’t won a statewide race in Texas since 1994, but Allred says he can win by bringing Texans together on a number of issues.
