"Congress Takes Action to Curb Toxicity and Restore Civility in Heated Exchanges"

U.S. Representatives Mike Carey (Republican) and Joyce Beatty (Democrat) have formed a congressional Civility Caucus in an effort to inspire a more civil discourse between the two parties in Congress. The caucus aims to address the deteriorating relations between Democrats and Republicans, as well as within the GOP, amidst a string of vulgar and toxic exchanges. The pair has launched their effort with joint speeches and meetings, and they hope to foster relationships through shared meals and nonwork get-togethers. The caucus has early commitments from at least 20 House members, but members are only permitted to join as bipartisan pairs.
