Controversial Transgender Bills Pass in Arkansas and Indiana

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has criticized the Biden administration's stance on child gender-affirming surgeries and hormone therapies, saying that parents should be empowered to make the best decisions for their children. Sanders, who is now the governor of Arkansas, has signed a bill that requires parental approval for teachers to address transgender students by their preferred pronouns and names. She stressed that a child cannot make a "life-altering" decision of that magnitude and that parents should not be cut out of the process. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had earlier said that such decisions should be left to the child and their parents, not legislators.
