Crowley shocks Wisconsin Democrats, advances to face Tiffany in November

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley won Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary in a razor-thin upset over Francesca Hong (roughly 39.8% to 39.4% with 98% of votes) after relaunching his campaign and benefiting from endorsements and heavy ad spending; Hong had led in late polling but faced scrutiny over past positions and electability. Crowley will face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in November, a race that could make Crowley Wisconsin’s first Black governor if he wins.
