Daughter of late Rep. Scott advances to all-Democrat runoff in Georgia's 13th District

Marcye Scott and Everton Blair advanced to an Aug. 25 runoff for Georgia’s 13th District to fill the remainder of the late Rep. David Scott’s term after no candidate cleared 50% in the all-party primary; with about 95% of votes tallied, Scott led at 46% and Blair had 37%. Neither candidate is running for a full term. Jasmine Clark won the regular Democratic primary in May. Blair is backed by Rep. Lucy McBath and would be the first openly gay man to represent Georgia in Congress, while Scott would be the second daughter to succeed her father in the House.
