Democrats dominate Minnesota legislative session with successful bills and tax measures.

Minnesota Democrats passed a $72 billion two-year state budget and a record-setting construction projects package, legalized marijuana, guaranteed abortion access, boosted school aid, and cut some taxes while raising others. Republicans fought but couldn’t stop the all-DFL power structure at the Capitol from passing its entire agenda. Democrats believe the abortion issue helped them outperform historical trends in last fall’s election. Republicans couldn't stop the onslaught, although they were anxious to highlight aspects of the passed legislation they see as out of touch.
