DeSantis Campaign Under Fire for Sharing Fake Trump Images with Fauci

Republicans are criticizing Ron DeSantis’ campaign for posting apparently fake AI-generated images of Donald Trump hugging Anthony Fauci on social media. Some of the images in the video posted by the “DeSantis War Room” account appear to be digitally altered, including one with distorted text on the White House briefing room seal. Sen. J.D. Vance and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, both Trump supporters, have called for the images to be taken down. The use of AI in campaign ads is expected to be a prevalent trend this cycle, but there is currently no federal requirement to include a disclaimer in campaign ads when AI is used to create images.
