DeSantis faces challenges in potential presidential run as Trump leads GOP nomination polls.

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that most Americans oppose seven out of eight signature policies put forward by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. The policies range from banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy to granting political appointees the power to fire tenured faculty members at public colleges and universities at any time and for any reason. DeSantis also trails former President Donald Trump in a one-on-one primary matchup among registered voters who are Republicans or Republican-leaning independents.
