Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared the takeover of Walt Disney World's governing district a success, despite worker departures, ongoing litigation, and controversy surrounding his appointees. DeSantis claimed increased transparency and accountability, reduced tax burdens, and improved contract competitiveness as benefits of the takeover. Disney has filed lawsuits over the transfer of control, alleging retaliation for opposing the state's "Don't Say Gay" law. Around 50 of the district's employees have left since the takeover, citing politicization and controversial appointees.
