DeSantis vs. Disney: Tax and Toll Threats Escalate

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has threatened to impose new taxes and tolls on the Walt Disney Co. after the company stripped most of the authority of the new board members DeSantis picked to take the reins of Disney's special tax district. DeSantis promised to void the development agreement Disney tried to do and look at things like taxes on the hotels, tolls on the roads, and developing some of the property that the district owns. The conflict began in the final stages of the 2022 legislative session when Disney publicly denounced the Parental Right in Education law.
