TL;DR

Gabe Amo, a former White House aide, has been elected as Rhode Island's first Black congressman, winning the special election to fill the seat vacated by former Representative David Cicilline. Amo defeated Marine veteran Gerry Leonard in Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District. The seat, which went for Biden in 2020, had been held by Cicilline since 2011, making Amo the heavy favorite to win the race.
