Gas stove regulation sparks political controversy in Congress

Gas stoves emit air pollutants that are linked to respiratory illness and cancer, and also produce greenhouse gases. Democrats argue that the proposal would be beneficial for the environment and public health, while Republicans argue that it would limit consumer choices. The DOE declined to send witnesses to the hearing, and the Republican majority on the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed two bills to prevent federal gas stove regulations.
