GOP Resistance Grows Against Trump's Recess Appointment Strategy
TL;DR
House Republicans are considering blocking President-elect Trump's plan to use a recess appointment to install Matt Gaetz as attorney general, bypassing the Senate's confirmation process. Trump's strategy relies on cooperation from House Speaker Mike Johnson and nearly all House Republicans to adjourn Congress, but some Republicans are hesitant. The plan also faces skepticism in the Senate, where Gaetz lacks sufficient support. Trump's demand for recess appointments challenges the Senate's constitutional role in confirming Cabinet nominees.
