GOP's Defense of Trump Against Indictment Criticized by Manhattan DA
TL;DR
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy criticized the Manhattan district attorney and grew frustrated with reporters' questions about former President Donald Trump at a House GOP retreat in Orlando. McCarthy did not directly answer questions about Trump's alleged conduct regarding a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels and instead targeted the Manhattan DA. McCarthy claimed that the press keeps bringing up Trump and blamed them for the former president dominating the news cycle. Other GOP members at the retreat have privately complained about how Trump has once again dominated the coverage.
