"House GOP Initiates Impeachment Hearings Against Secretary Mayorkas"
TL;DR
House Republicans are initiating impeachment proceedings against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, citing his management of the border crisis as the reason. The House Committee on Homeland Security has been investigating Mayorkas for nearly a year and will soon conduct hearings. The Department of Homeland Security has dismissed the impeachment efforts as baseless and politically motivated. The move comes amid heightened attention on immigration issues ahead of the 2024 presidential election and ongoing debates over border security and immigration policy.
