Jessica Tisch Appointed as New NYPD Commissioner by Mayor Adams
TL;DR
Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Jessica Tisch, previously the city's Sanitation Commissioner, as the new NYPD commissioner, marking a non-traditional choice as she has never served as a police officer. Tisch, who has a background in information technology and is part of a prominent New York family, will be the second woman to lead the NYPD. Her appointment follows a period of turmoil within the department, including FBI investigations into previous commissioners. Adams emphasized Tisch's technological expertise and vision for modernizing policing.
