Kari Lake's legal team has been ordered to pay $2,000 in sanctions after she made unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud in Maricopa County during the 2022 election. The Supreme Court of Arizona granted a motion from Gov. Katie Hobbs and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes for sanctions, stating that Lake's assertion that 35,563 ballots were added or injected was unsupported by the record and unequivocally false. Lake, a former GOP candidate for governor, has repeatedly touted former President Trump's debunked claims of widespread election fraud and alleged voter fraud in her own loss in the governor's race.
