Kevin McCarthy's Priorities Prevent Trump Endorsement

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has not yet endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election, citing other priorities such as the Southern border crisis and conflicts in the Middle East. McCarthy believes Trump will be the Republican nominee and get reelected. Trump currently leads the Republican primary field by over 40 points, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in second place. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is gaining traction and has been endorsed by The Post and Courier in South Carolina. McCarthy, who was recently removed as House Speaker, has endorsed GOP Whip Tom Emmer for the position but has not ruled out another run if Emmer's candidacy fails.
