St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner has accused Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey of exploiting tragedy for political gain and waging an unfounded campaign against her in his suit to remove her from office. Gardner's attorneys have asked the judge to dismiss the case, arguing that Bailey's petition is a gross power grab and an affront to the liberties of all Missourians. Bailey filed the petition in February, claiming that Gardner has failed to prosecute cases, hasn't kept victims informed, and took too long to review charging requests from police.
