Lawsuit Seeks Removal of Donald Trump from New Mexico Ballots

John Anthony Castro, a 2024 Republican Presidential candidate, has filed a federal lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, seeking to remove Trump's name from the New Mexico Republican primary election and the 2024 presidential ballot. The lawsuit cites the 14th Amendment, which prohibits individuals who engaged in acts of insurrection against the country from holding public office. Castro has filed similar cases in other states, and New Mexico Secretary of State Toulouse Oliver stated that a determination will be made based on New Mexico law if Trump files to run for President in the state. Trump is currently leading in polling numbers for the Republican presidential primaries and is facing multiple criminal indictments.
