Maine Senate Candidate Troy Jackson Fathered Two Kids With Second Cousin, Report Finds
TL;DR
Maine Democratic Senate hopeful Troy Jackson is in a long‑term relationship with Lana Pelletier, his second cousin, with whom he has two adult sons and shares the same great‑grandparents; they have reportedly never married. Maine law allows second‑cousin marriages with genetic counseling, and such unions are not unheard of in rural northern areas. Jackson was formally nominated to challenge incumbent Sen. Susan Collins in the 2026 midterms.
