Mayors Unite to Seek Biden's Support for Migrant Aid Funding

Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago visited the White House to discuss the city's need for additional federal funding to address the migrant crisis. While President Biden did not attend the meeting, Johnson met with Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and other officials from the Department of Homeland Security. Although no promises were made, the discussions were described as productive. Johnson requested at least $5 billion in aid for migrants and also asked for more resources to help gun violence victims. The mayor's trip followed a joint letter with mayors from other cities urging the president to secure more funding for their growing migrant populations.
