Missouri passes controversial bills restricting transgender healthcare and sports participation.

Missouri lawmakers have passed two bills that would ban gender-affirming care for minors and transgender athletes from playing on school sports teams that align with their gender. The bills now head to the desk of Republican Gov. Mike Parson, who is expected to sign them. Thirteen states have placed restrictions on transgender youths’ access to gender-affirming care this year, and more than 470 anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced nationwide this legislative session, according to the ACLU.
