Missouri Senator Denounces Child Marriage, Washington House Passes Bill for Homeless Trans Youth

Missouri Senator Mike Moon has defended himself after comments he made earlier in the week appeared to support the marriage of 12-year-olds. Moon, a Republican from the rural community of Ash Grove, is a sponsor of a bill restricting transgender care for children. He said he was referring to a couple he has known for about 40 years, where the young man was 12 and the girl was 11, and their parents allowed them to marry. Eventually, a child was born to the girl, and then years later, when they were able to support themselves and were more mature, they were able to begin living together, and still living together today.
