Musk-Backed PAC Bets Big on 2026 Senate Battlegrounds

Elon Musk’s America PAC spent over $800,000 in the 2026 midterms, directing the bulk of the money to seven Senate races (with notable activity in Texas for Ken Paxton and in Maine for Susan Collins) and smaller amounts to several House contests. The expenditures, disclosed after Musk’s meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson, occurred Aug. 18–31 and appear to be the first midterm push from the group after years of heavy involvement in 2024. The PAC has talked of a possible $120 million field program, but current disclosures show a modest pacing, with America PAC having raised about $50.3 million and spent $52.3 million for the 2025-26 cycle and about $274,000 in cash on hand as of June 30.
