Nebraska Lawmaker Under Fire for Inserting Colleague's Name into Graphic Rape Scene
TL;DR
Nebraska state Sen. Steve Halloran faces calls to resign after reading a graphic rape scene from a book during a legislative debate and invoking a colleague's name in the passage. He apologized for referencing his colleagues and defended his decision to read the passage, but several senators, including Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh, criticized his actions as inappropriate and called for stronger action to prevent similar incidents. The incident has sparked controversy and calls for Halloran's resignation from both Republican and Democratic senators.
