NYC faces backlash over plan to relocate asylum-seekers to suburbs and upstate areas.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams sent a bus of asylum-seekers to a town north of the city, marking the first time City Hall has successfully sent migrants to the suburbs as it deals with strains on its own social safety net. The move has faced backlash from some county executives, who have found the city’s outreach lacking. The city has run out of space to house arriving asylum-seekers after opening more than 120 emergency hotels and several larger Humanitarian Emergency Relief and Response Centers.
