NYPD declines security detail for Mamdani’s wife on Middle East trip
TL;DR
The NYPD says it will not provide an overseas security detail for Mayor Zohran Mamdani's wife during a September trip to Syria and Lebanon, noting officers do not accompany personal travel to countries with level-4 travel advisories; Mamdani's office had previously claimed security would join the trip, but later attributed the change to a miscommunication as security concerns and travel advisories loom.
