Ohio lawmakers debate controversial bills affecting LGBTQ+ rights.

Ohio GOP lawmakers have merged two controversial bills on gay and trans rights into one, which would ban puberty blockers or hormones for Ohioans under 18, bar transgender girls and women from taking part in female-only sports in Ohio schools and colleges, require teachers to disclose when a child is questioning their gender identity or sexual orientation, order schools to notify parents before any classroom talks about gender identity or sexual orientation, and forbid Medicaid from paying for a minor’s gender transition. The full Ohio House is expected to vote on the combined measure next week.
