Ohio's Marijuana Dilemma: Legal Possession and Growth, but No Place to Buy

Adults in Ohio can now legally possess and grow marijuana at home, but they cannot legally buy it due to a lack of legislation. Republican Governor Mike DeWine warned that this combination could lead to a flourishing black market, endangering Ohioans and potentially exposing children to second-hand pot smoke. A compromise bill was proposed to set parameters for implementing the law, but it did not pass through the Ohio House, which opted to adjourn. The original citizen-initiated statute, approved by voters in November, allows adults to possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and grow up to six plants per individual or 12 plants per household. The state now faces the challenge of establishing a system for legal marijuana purchases.
