Politics and Partisanship Shape Views on Trump Indictment: Poll

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 81% of self-identified Republicans believe that the federal criminal charges against former President Donald Trump are politically motivated. However, 62% of respondents, including 35% of Republicans, found it believable that Trump illegally stored classified documents at his home in Florida. Despite the indictment, Trump remains the preferred candidate for 43% of self-identified Republicans in the 2024 presidential election, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as his closest rival at 22%. Trump has proclaimed his innocence and vowed to continue his campaign to regain the presidency.
