Proud Boys convicted of seditious conspiracy in Jan. 6 trial.

Four members of the Proud Boys were found guilty of seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, while another member was found not guilty. The defendants were also found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and one member was separately charged with stealing a police shield. The trial lasted four months, with the prosecution arguing that the Proud Boys organized in advance to stop certification of President Joe Biden's win by "any means necessary, including by force." Defense attorneys argued that the group was being used as a scapegoat for former President Donald Trump.
