"RI State Police Investigate EP City Council Amid Matos Signature Scandal"

The Rhode Island State Police have joined the investigation into forged signatures filed by the campaign of Sabina Matos, a candidate for the 1st Congressional District. The scandal has affected the entire East Providence City Council, with multiple councilors stating that their names were forged on nomination papers. Matos' campaign manager insists that the campaign did not encourage the fraudulent signatures and believes they will still be able to get her name on the primary ballot. The Rhode Island Board of Elections is set to decide on the matter on Friday. Other municipalities within the district have also referred allegations of forged documents to law enforcement.
