Russia Bans Obama and 500 Americans in Retaliation for US Sanctions

Russia has banned 500 US citizens, including former President Barack Obama, in response to the latest round of US sanctions. The move was triggered by the US refusal to give visas to media traveling with the foreign minister to the United Nations. The US has imposed sanctions on more than 300 targets, including 22 people and 104 entities, in an effort to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions target an international network that procures components for the Russia-based entity responsible for the manufacture of the Orlan drone, among other entities.
