Senator Thom Tillis to retire amid Trump’s primary threats
TL;DR
Senator Thom Tillis announced he will not seek re-election in North Carolina, citing a lack of enthusiasm and political gridlock, after facing criticism from Donald Trump for opposing a GOP policy bill. His decision opens a competitive Senate seat, with Democrats eyeing it as a key opportunity to flip the seat, while Republicans remain confident in defending it.
