Senators Scrutinize New Wave of Trump Cabinet Nominees
TL;DR
Senate Democrats are maintaining their leadership with Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin re-elected to their positions, while Amy Klobuchar and Cory Booker rise in ranks. Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth, Trump's defense secretary pick, is meeting with senators, and Kash Patel, nominated for FBI director, faces little GOP opposition. In the House, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may vie for a top spot on the Oversight Committee, challenging the party's seniority norms. Trump plans to attend Notre Dame's reopening, and Biden's pardoning of Hunter Biden stirs political discourse.
