South Carolina Senate votes to renew 6-week abortion ban.

The South Carolina Senate has passed a bill that would ban most abortions after around six weeks of pregnancy, and it has been sent to the governor who has promised to sign it. The proposal restores a ban South Carolina had in place when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year. The South Carolina bill includes exceptions for fatal fetal anomalies, the patient’s life and health, and rape or incest up to 12 weeks. Doctors could face felony charges carrying two years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
