Texas AG Urges GOP House Speaker's Resignation Over Alleged Intoxication in Session

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has called on House Speaker Dade Phelan to resign, citing his conduct during a debate on the House floor. Phelan's office dismissed the calls as politically motivated. The House is currently investigating Paxton's legal settlement with whistleblowers, and has issued subpoenas in the matter. Earlier this year, Paxton requested $3.3m of state money to pay a settlement to employees who were terminated after raising ethical concerns about his conduct.
