The TikTok Debate: Threat or Necessity for American Politics?

Despite security concerns and increased governmental scrutiny, TikTok remains a necessary platform for Democratic campaigns to reach young voters, who are a core demographic for the party. While some campaigns may be wary of having an account on the app, tapping influencers to share the campaign’s message could be effective. Republicans who choose not to engage with TikTok out of principle risk missing out on shaping narratives and reaching younger voters. Campaigns are reevaluating their balance of spending on platforms as they enter the 2024 cycle, but so far there’s not a massive move away from TikTok.
