A federal judge in Florida has blocked the Biden administration's plan to release migrants in the US on "parole" due to an expected surge once the emergency immigration restriction known as Title 42 lifts. The judge's order will take effect at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday. Title 42, first imposed during the Trump administration, permits the more rapid expulsion of migrants during a public health emergency − in this case, the COVID-19 pandemic. The Biden administration lifted that public health emergency on Thursday.
