Trans lawmaker silenced by Montana House speaker

Montana's House Speaker is refusing to recognize state Rep. Zooey Zephyr until she apologizes for her speech against legislation restricting gender-affirming care for children. The Speaker cited the need to maintain decorum on the House floor. Zephyr attempted to speak out against a bill altering the state's definition of sex, but was not recognized. The decision to refuse to recognize Zephyr comes just days after she castigated the legislature for attempting to pass a bill restricting children from receiving gender-affirming care. Zephyr said she doesn't regret her choice of words and will continue to advocate for her constituents.
