Trump Holds Significant Lead Over DeSantis in Florida GOP Race

According to a new poll from Florida Atlantic University/Mainstreet Research, former President Donald Trump leads Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by a 24-point margin among registered Republicans in Florida. Trump is favored by 57% of Republican voters, while DeSantis only garners 33% support. However, DeSantis is the second choice of 45% of Florida Republican voters. The poll also revealed that the economy is the top issue for voters heading into the 2024 election, followed by immigration and abortion. Additionally, a significant portion of voters believe Trump committed a crime, and there is concern about prejudice against Jewish Americans and the rise of racism and bigotry in the US. Climate change is seen as a serious problem by 60% of Florida voters.
