Trump lawyers battle to keep him on Michigan ballot as Supreme Court weighs in on 14th Amendment case

Former President Donald Trump's lawyers are fighting to keep him on Michigan's 2024 ballot as they argue against efforts to remove him based on the 14th Amendment's insurrectionist ban. This comes after similar challenges in Minnesota and Colorado. Trump's lawyer argued that judges should not have a role in enforcing the ban, stating that it only applies to elected officeholders-to-be and not candidates running for office. The challengers, however, argued that these constitutional issues should be resolved now and predicted that the United States Supreme Court will ultimately decide on a uniform rule for the entire nation. Michigan Judge James Redford appeared open to adjudicating the underlying questions about Trump's eligibility.
