Trump seeks Supreme Court backing to curb mail-in voting

President Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to let his March executive order curb mail-in voting despite lower-court blocks in nearly two dozen states. The order would empower the USPS and DHS to screen state voter rolls for non-citizens, require states to submit eligible-mail voter lists, use ballot-tracking barcodes, and push prosecutions of officials who send or receive ballots to ineligible voters. Democratic-led states challenged the order; district courts blocked it for this year’s election and the 1st Circuit largely upheld that ruling, though one judge would have allowed parts. The administration argues the EO is general policy guidance not yet implemented and sought an administrative hold on lower-court decisions. The Supreme Court has requested a response, with significant midterm implications.
