Trump to face defamation trial by E. Jean Carroll in Jan. 2024.

A federal judge has scheduled E. Jean Carroll's second defamation trial against former President Donald Trump for January 15, 2023. Carroll's lawyers sought new damages of at least $10 million based on comments Trump made at a CNN town hall last month. The pending defamation case dates to 2019 when Carroll publicly accused Trump of having raped her. Trump was found liable for sexually abusing Carroll and for defamation last month in a separate case she filed against him.
