Trump's Endorsements Cause Headwinds for DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump's campaign and political operation worked for weeks to secure endorsements from Florida's congressional delegation to subvert Governor Ron DeSantis in his own state. Trump's team released the endorsements on Tuesday, right as DeSantis was in Washington, D.C., trying to secure his own endorsements. The move was part of a deliberate effort to "embarrass and mindf-ck DeSantis" as much as possible. Trump has secured more than twice as much support from DeSantis' own backyard as DeSantis has secured. DeSantis is expected to formally announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election sometime after Florida's Legislature session wraps up next month.
