David Weiss, the US attorney overseeing the criminal probe into Hunter Biden, defended the investigation in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, refuting claims that he lacked authority to bring charges in certain areas. Two IRS agents had raised concerns about the handling of the probe, alleging political interference and contradicting Attorney General Merrick Garland's statements. Weiss clarified that his charging authority is limited to his home district and that he would partner with other US Attorney's Offices if necessary. He also stated that he would not provide additional information about the case while it is being prosecuted.
