Watchdog finds White House press secretary violated Hatch Act

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been found to have violated the Hatch Act for using the term "mega MAGA" from the briefing room podium, according to the US Office of the Special Counsel. The Hatch Act is a law that is supposed to stop the federal government from affecting elections or going about its activities in a partisan manner. Jean-Pierre received a warning letter, but no disciplinary action was taken. The White House is reviewing the OSC's opinion. Thirteen senior Trump administration officials violated the Hatch Act, according to a report released from the OSC in November 2021.
