WSJ reporter charged with espionage in Russia.

Russia has charged Wall Street Journal correspondent Evan Gershkovich with espionage, which he denies, stating he was engaged in journalistic activities in Russia. The US citizen was detained during a reporting trip to Ekaterinburg and is being held in pre-trial detention at the FSB’s Lefortovo prison in Moscow. The arrest of Gershkovich has plunged already bad relations between Moscow and Washington to a post-cold war low. The US officials and the WSJ vehemently deny the charges and have called for his immediate release.
