George Floyd's Legacy Continues to Spark Change and Demand Accountability.

LaTonya Floyd, sister of George Floyd, expressed mercy towards ex-cop Derek Chauvin, who was convicted of violating her brother's civil rights, but noted that he has never apologized to her family. She hopes that Chauvin finds peace within himself and kneels down to help someone up instead of holding them down. In June 2021, Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years behind bars for Floyd's violent death. On the two-year anniversary of Floyd's death, President Joe Biden signed the George Floyd Justice In Policing Act, which includes measures to increase police accountability and restrict the use of force.
